Ho Chi Minh City

What image comes to your mind when you think of Vietnam or Ho Chi Minh city? In my case, I think of rice noodles and friendliness. Vietnam, like most Southeast Asian countries, also has an image of cheap prices, not hygienically clean, and unsafe security.

I will list the essential information you need during your trip to Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam.

 

 

Visa:

 

It will be different by your citizenship, and you may need eVisa depending on how long you would stay in Vietnam. 

 

Don't accept ripped money when you receive the change:

 

In most countries, you can use it even if it is a little torn, but it is almost impossible to use it in Vietnam, so if you received the torn money when you received the change, you should ask for the original condition money.

 

Voltage: 220v

 

Taxi: Grab

 

 

When you go abroad, you often take a taxi, but when you meet a bad taxi driver, he often rip you off. To prevent this, I would recommend that you install a grab application on your phone when traveling to Ho Chi Minh city and use it when using a taxi.

You can know the taxi fare in advance and pay with a credit card, so there is no reason to argue with the taxi driver. However, in order to pay with the card, you have to register your card in Vietnam.

 

* You can register your card in your country, but there are many ways to do it on the Internet, such as the fake GPS location app, so you can refer to it.

 

Where to meet a grab taxi driver at SGN Airport (Tan Son Nhat International Airport)

 

Places to meet a grab taxi driver may change depending on the address you book on the app. Howeve, you can constantly communicate with the driver and let the driver know where you are waiting for him.

 

 

Roaming vs USIM:

 

Usually, USIM is cheaper, and Viettel USIM, the number one Vietnamese carrier, has a good performance, so I recommend Viettel USIM.

 

 

 

Good restaurant (1st division in Ho Chi Minh City)

 

Saigon Pho 39 (A famous rice noodle restaurant)

 

Le Corto (French restaurant)

 

Gartenstadt Restuarant (German restaurant)

 

In addition to the restaurants listed above, I've been to many other restaurants, including seafood buffet, and it was cost-effective compared to New York City, but the taste was personally not good.

 

Travel

 

Saigon Waterbus

 

The city itself is really lined with high-rise buildings, so it is visible that it grows at a high speed. However, the air was very bad, and even though credit card payments could be made at a store, foreigners were often encouraged to pay in cash, which was a bad experience.

 

 

With this, I will end my short visit experience to Ho Chi Minh City and end my trip to Vietnam with a long video.

Summary: Personally, I think Ho Chi Minh City is enough city to visit once. It was amazing to see Ho Chi Minh city grow rapidly every time I visit, but when I found out that I was a foreigner, it didn't look good to induce cash payments, saying that I couldn't pay by credit card in some taxis or restaurants.
