[Seoul, Korea] Shilla Stay Seodaemun Review

Hello, Happy Dream Life is back. Today, I'll be reviewing the Deluxe Room at the three-star Shilla Stay Seodaemun Hotel, located in Seodaemun, Seoul.

SHILLA STAY SEODAEMUN

Address: 163, Migeun-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul

Phone# : 82-2-6388-9000

Let's start with a video review.

Shilla Stay is part of the Hotel Shilla chain and operates as a business hotel, offering relatively affordable accommodations.

Shilla Stay Seodaemun is classified as a three-star hotel.

Shilla Stay Seodaemun Location

As shown on the map above, the hotel is located near Seodaemun subway station and is also close to Gwanghwamun. This central location makes it popular with foreign guests and offers an affordable option for staying in downtown Seoul.

The hotel is about a five-minute walk from Seodaemun Subway Station. However, if you're driving, parking costs 5,000 won per night (as of 2024), which is not included with your stay. While many hotels offer complimentary parking, it was a bit disappointing to have to pay even 5,000 won.

Now, let's dive into a detailed review of the room.

Room & Fitness Center

The hotel offers several room types: Standard, Deluxe, Premier Deluxe, and Grand.

Deluxe Room

I found the room size to be somewhat small, but being assigned a high floor with a nice view was a nice touch.

Fitness Center

I also felt that the fitness center was a bit small.

One aspect I appreciated was the 12 p.m. check-out time. Many hotels require check-out by 11 a.m. these days, but at Shilla Stay Seodaemun, the later check-out allowed for a more relaxed departure.

There were three elevators, but it seemed like not all of them were in operation. This caused some inconvenience, as there were often long waits to go up to the room or down to the first floor.

Summary: I would recommend this hotel to foreign visitors due to its convenient location and to those looking for an affordable staycation in Seoul. Although the room size felt a bit small, it was reasonable given the price.

It's unfortunate that guests have to pay for parking, but the 12 p.m. check-out time made up for it. Overall, I would personally rate my experience 4 out of 5.

Have a great day.
