I’m sure you’ve seen people arriving at Incheon International Airport for an overseas trip and simply entering the airport using facial recognition, without anyone checking them at the smart pass line in the departure hall. This got me curious, so I decided to learn more about the Smart Pass.
Smart Pass is a contactless service that lets you register your passport, facial information, and boarding pass in advance through an app. Then, you can complete the departure process, including passing through the departure hall and boarding gate, using only facial authentication. This is available not only for Koreans but also for foreigners.
1. Please install Smart Pass App in your cell phone.
2. Enter necessary Information.
If you have any questions, you can call the smart service team at 1899-7899.
Summary: I thought it would be a very useful service during peak season. However, if Smart Pass becomes more popular, the line for it could become longer, which might make it counterproductive. That said, since not many people use it yet, it still offers many convenient benefits. Personally, I would rate it 4 out of 5.
