[Canada] Vancouver & Ottawa Travel Tip (Vancouver vs Ottawa vs Toronto Travel?)

Hello, welcome to Happy Dream Life. Today, I will talk about my recent trip to Vancouver and Ottawa in Canada. Most of the people preparing to travel to Canada will be considering to visit either Vancouver or Toronto. If you can visit both cities because you have a lot of time, you can visit both cities, but if you have to visit only one city because you don't have enough time, I recommend Toronto for those who like the city life and Vancouver for those who like seafood and leisurely travel in sea.

 

 

Preparing to travel to Canada

 

For Foreigners (Requirement may vary depending on your citizenship)

ETA ( No ETA required when entering Canada by land or ship )

 

When foreigners travel to the United States, they visit with an electronic travel permit system called ESTA. Is Canada similar to the United States?

Yes, similarly, you need to get an ETA issued on the Internet and once you get an ETA, you can stay in Canada without a visa for 180 days, and the validity is 5 years. It is usually approved within 72 hours.

110v & 120v

 

The Canadian voltage is 110v & 120v. You must take your converter if you do not use 110v or 120v in your home country.

 

Transportation/International Driver's license

 

If you visit a big city, you can use the subway or bus, and if you want to use a rental car, you can take an international license from your home country. If you do not want to drive, then you can use Uber.

 

 

 

 

 

Vancouver

 

First of all, Vancouver is a major city in British Columbia. It's similar to LA in the U.S. Even though it's a big city, people are laid-back.

 

 

 

Location/Weather

The location is really close to Seattle in the U.S., as you can see on the map above. What do travelers who have lived or visited in Seattle, USA, think of when it comes to Seattle weather? It rains a lot. Yes, because it is close to Seattle in terms of geography, it has similar weather to Seattle.

 

 

Places to visit in downtown Vancouver, Canada:

 

1. Stanley Park

 

            

 

The park is recommended for those who like natural scenery.

2. Granville Island

 

 

 

 

 

This place is recommended for those who like to go to the local market. However, I was disappointed that the products and foods were cheaper or less fresh than I thought.

Ottawa

 

Canadians say that there is nothing to do in Ottawa. And there are often people who don't know that Ottawa is the capital of Canada. Just as some people think the capital of the United States is New York City, others think that the capital of Canada as Toronto.

Unlike Canadians who call Ottawa a boring city, I was satisfied with the European style of architecture and museums, and I think that the city is worth to visit at least once.

As you can see from the map above, the location is close to Toronto and Montreal, and the weather is relatively similar to those cities.

 

 

Recommended places to visit in Ottawa:

 

1. Parliament Hill and Buildings

 

- This place is recommended for those who like European architecture.

 

2. ByWard Mraket

 

- I recommend this place if you want to feel the atmosphere of the local traditional market.

 

3. Art gallery and museums

 

There are many art galleries and museums such as National Gallery of Canada, Canadian Museum of Nature, Canada Science and Technology Museum, so it would be great to visit those places if you are interested in.
